After last week’s article, I was contacted by Thomas Krim, who became the sole owner of the Ernst Westphal company, a traditional watch and clock material link house in the north of Germany.The Anoma A1 came on a cream-colored pigskin 18mm strap with a 2mm taper and a pin buckle that nicely resembles the curvy case shape.Really though, you clicked on this story for the dials and I'm happy to report that they do not at all disappoint in person. In either size, the effect is somewhere between camouflage and opalescence, with the more brightly colored dial of the 36.5mm offering considerably more fire than that of the 41.5mm version and its dial of blues, whites, and even brown tones.The second element of note is the movement as the SLA range often gets a higher-spec movement and the 065 gets Seiko's 8L35 automatic, which is among the best movements Seiko uses in dive watches. Based on the Grand Seiko 9S55, the 8L35 ticks at 4 Hz and has a power reserve of 50 hours.</br>
The system for swapping straps remains blessedly intact as well, which means you may link swap back and forth at whim, and this, in combination with the new ease of transition between different watch faces, means it's easier than ever to dress the Apple Watch up or down. Other upgrades include a faster dual core processor, and a new GPU, all of which add up to an altogether zippier experience. Which brings us to watchOS 3.Since the first model was introduced, the design has continued to evolve. One of the most interesting models is the Astronomia Sky, which includes a sidereal time indication and star chart (with which we went hands-on earlier this year) and we also had the pleasure of having Jacob & Co. founder Jacob Arabo, and watchmaker Luca Soprano, of watch design house Studio 7h38 (Jacob & Co.'s partner in constructing the movement and watch) in the office to talk about the Astronomia Sky on video.It's hard to think of a better way to spend a holiday Monday than listening to two adults celebrate the art of being surprised for a little over an hour.
